Help fund our library

Hello to you all!

In just 24 hours, I will be seeing my sister and her fiance to kick off the Bruckner extravaganza in Honduras. From Christmas though New Years, I have the great fortune of being able to hang out with my long-lost family. To say I am excited would be a huge understatement!

Before I head off to my vacation, I wanted to let you all know that the Peace Corps Partnership Fund to start a community library in my town has been posted... and is open for donations. That is, with a community group, I helped them write a grant to bring a library to the town, focused on improving educational levels (so people study past 6th grade) and providing the community with important agricultural and environmental manuals for sustainable production. We submitted the proposal to the mayor and to various ngos, who will help provide a librarian's salary and some necessary infrastructure (like book shelves and tables). However, I am writing you all to ask for your help to fund the base of the library project-- that is, the funds for the print books and materials we are going to purchase.

Remember how you all asked me how you could support me and my work here? Well, now is the time and this is the opportunity. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to the project through the website:
https://www.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm?shell=donate.contribute.projDetail&projdesc=522-244.

If you have problems with that site, you can always search http://www.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm?shell=donateHonduras by Honduras or my name (Heide Bruckner) or the project number 522 244. I thank you in advance for any little bit you can contribute.

Happy holidays and a very happy 2011.
